Just Cuts (Australia) Announces International Expansion

30 Sep 2014
A cut above the rest, Just Cuts™ Franchising expands its focus of the global hairdressing industry with expansion plans into South East Asia, the Middle East India, and the UK. Just Cuts™ have partnered with World Franchise Association (WFA) and Global Franchise Partners (GFP) to facilitate master franchise agreements worldwide with an initial focus on key consumer markets in South East Asia and the Middle East. Just Cuts™ COO Amber Turnbull has said that the expansion plan is a natural progression for a highly decorated franchise system that has only been limited by geography to date. ‘Just Cuts™ has been Australian owned and operated as a franchise for the past 24 years and is home to 180 units across Australia and New Zealand. We are the Southern Hemisphere’s largest hairdressing franchise and are very excited at the prospect of expanding and replicating our success internationally. ‘We very much look forward to working with WFA and GFP and are in a better position than ever to look abroad for Master Franchisor candidates.’ Turnbull said. Gidon Rosing, Global Business Development at GFP, is excited to have partnered with Just Cuts™ to share their journey as they grow into new markets that can benefit from such a fantastic business. ‘Not many brands globally have the track record of Just Cuts™, with over 30 years in the industry and thousands of happy clients who keep coming back. Watch this space!’ Rosing said. Troy Franklin, WFA chief operating officer for South East Asia added “we are pleased that Just Cuts™ has chosen WFA to spearhead their international expansion which will get underway immediately with Just Cuts participation at the Franchise & Licensing Asia Expo in Singapore from 16-18 October and the Middle East Franchise Expo in Dubai on 21-22 October and we look forward to working with the team at Just Cuts™ and to helping them achieve their international development objectives.” Just Cuts™ was born when CEO and Founder Denis McFadden discovered a gap in the market between full-colour salons and barbers. A convenient alternative for those wanting a quality experience by a specialist cutter at an affordable price, Just Cuts™ offers a fixed price Style Cuts™ cuts for men and women only employing fully qualified hairdressers. ‘Tried and tested, the Just Cuts™ system has been built on 24 years of research and development, McFadden said. ‘We operate on a ‘No appointments™, Just come in™’ queuing system, with all Style Cuts™ cuts backed by a seven day guarantee, ‘Our Franchisees own approximately 2.4 salons each and the fact that 64% of all Franchise Owners are multi-site franchisees speaks for itself.’ McFadden said. Recently inducted into the Franchising Council of Australia’s Hall of Fame, McFadden prides himself on a system which is perpetually evolving. McFadden has a strong advisory board which contribute to the direction and vision of the organisation; his Franchise Advisory Council (FAC). The FAC comprises of Master Franchisors from both Australia and New Zealand and eight Franchise Owners across Australia and New Zealand representing the collective group. To ensure both Franchise Owners and Stylists grow and remain profitable, Just Cuts™ have implemented a number of innovations over the past year, these include: A recently developed internal marketing, communications and POS tool created by a working group of Franchise Owners that launched at their annual international conference in August this year. Just Cuts™ recently celebrated JUSTICE Professional™’s first birthday; Just Cuts™’ exclusive professional styling and care range comprising of 17 unisex products that was made by hairdressers for hairdressers. A recent addition to the salon portfolio, Just Cuts™ has introduced the kiosk concept. An entry level salon that is a both cost effective to open and operate. Turnbull sees the kiosk as a huge opportunity in an untapped market. An obvious expansion to both Stylists wanting to take the leap into owning a business and existing Franchise Owners looking to grow their own portfolio. ‘The kiosk has debuted to great success operating in a number of shopping centres across Australia. Alike our traditional inline salon, Franchise Owners do NOT have to be hairdressers and this is a great entry level option. ‘The kiosk is now also being bundled with a traditional salon for large shopping centres with heavy foot traffic to help increase revenue and build multi-site owners. It is also a great opportunity for Stylists wanting to take the next step in the career into owning a franchise.’ Turnbull said. Just Cuts™ have also enhanced their digital learning platform (e-learning), offering courses to Stylists and Franchise Owners ranging from introductory social media and brand guidelines to advanced hairdressing and retailing covering all aspects of the Just Cuts™ Client experience. McFadden has credited a key factor in Just Cuts™’ growth to promoting Style Cuts™ cuts for everybody! Currently boasting a Client base of 50/50 male/female, Just Cuts™ market to the whole family. Just Cuts™ is a value based brand that has thrived in both economic downtime and prosperity. The International Support Office is located in Southern Sydney, Australia.
